Globalizing the 'liberal democratic' experience didn't work, let's try autocracy

I am sick and tired of talking about the prospect of global nuclear war and what kind of hell-scape that will bring forth upon our planet, so let's talk of the prospects for change in the global order for a change. If the old one ain't workin' change it, so goes conventional American revolutionary wisdom. We've tried a liberal democracies-led global world order, let us give global autocracies a chance at the helm. I can see all of you out there gasping at this suggestion, mouthes open wide, jaws dragging on floor. Well, don't be stunned and shocked and offended for too long, the above suggestion is fast becoming a reality!

A nice global family picture

The Epoch Times recently quoted Andrew Shearer, director general of Australia's Office of National Intelligence, as saying that Chinese leader Xi Jinping "appears to be planning to dominate the Indo-Pacific region" and "to overtake the United States as the world’s leading power". Talk about pointing out the bleeding obvious!

Shearer's Prime Minister Scott Morrison called on liberal democracies to stop what he called an “arc of autocracy” reshaping the world, the Epoch Times reported. "We’re going to have to work much harder to maintain the liberal quality of the rules-based order in Europe and here in the Indo-Pacific region,” Shearer was quoted as saying by the publication.

I know how the West views what they regard as autocracies, rather poorly! They hold a decidedly dim view of both Russia and China, and it's not just now since Russian tanks rolled into Ukraine. The West has always looked at China either as a source for cheap labor (19th century USA), or poor quality merchandise, or as a megalomaniacal world power bent on spreading communist-style capitalism and fried rice to every corner of the globe. While the west's view of Russia was never much better or any more accurate or sophisticated, they either saw Russia as a breeding ground for global criminal organizations led by a drunkard President (Yeltsin), or they saw it as a megalomaniacal upstart power set on subjugating Europe and raping and killing white, blond, blue-eyed people. This is not new. Its a worn image, not to mention cartoonishly inaccurate and offensive.

As for the panacea of liberal democracy, let me tell you about that as a Lebanese/Palestinian. I hate democracy! There I said it. Democracy has brought us, me personally, nothing but weak quarreling coalitions or grasping opportunist capitalist-led governments that over 30 years have ruined our post-civil war country's economy and robbed every expatriate Lebanese of their life savings. They have reduced the once self sufficient Lebanese middle class to paupers and salaried drones scrambling to maintain a life they once had. So, if this is what liberal democracy brings to us, fuck democracy, I'll try autocracy any day, a strong leader at the top keeping all the competing interests in line with national interests is what we need.

The world is in desperate need of good leadership, ever since the failed Trump experiment! The once respected and feared United States has become a grandpa joke, a little racist and out of date.

Think about what liberal democracy has given us all here in the global south, you know the other side of prosperity:

It has eroded family values and divided communities and turned what was once considered obscene into mainstream, including sexual promiscuity and shamelessness. I sound prudish, I know, I don't give a flying fuck!

What else has this liberal system given us, let's see, domination by the seagoing English speaking empires over every aspect of economic prosperity, trade, and global finance, so that any country that does not obey their dictates gets pummeled and reduced from prosperity to penury. Obey or lose your wealth! Is that how liberal democratic global powers deal with dissenting opinions and countries that choose their own path? If so then I long for the so called autocratic powers of the world to take over.

Hypocrisy, there is another thing the liberal democratic world order has given us. When Palestinians in Gaza get invaded and bombed and killed by Israel, "its their own damn fault their terrorists provoked Israel", but when Ukrainians get invaded and bombed and killed by Russia, the Russians are clearly the villains, western media tells us the "invasion" was "unprovoked"! What a load of bull, this must be the longest period of sustained provocation is history without a decisive military response! Ever since 2014 Ukraine has taken an anti-Russian stance, shelling ethnic Russians and Russian speakers in Eastern Ukraine without mercy. That doesn't make the attack unprovoked!

Think about all the invasions the West has mounted, from Vietnam to Grenada to Iraq and Afghanistan, think of the suffering they inflicted on the peoples of these countries, the millions occupied, killed, murdered, and then the West has the gall to berate and wag a finger at Russia! Give me a fucking break!

War is hell, it is the least desirable of conditions to be in, I pray the war in Ukraine ends today, this instant in fact, and I pray not one more Ukrainian or Russian dies in this needless and preventable war. It could have been easily prevented by Ukraine giving the Russians what they want: declare their country's neutrality and non-Nato status, reduce anti-Russian rhetoric, disarm far right militias, discuss the status of the Donbas and all ethnic Russians and Russian speakers in Ukraine, and above all, do not take an anti-Russia posture ever again, because Russia is far stronger than Ukraine, a country that seems to have chosen pretty shit allies.

A wiser leadership in Ukraine would have avoided war all together and would not have placed their trust in the US, the UK and Nato countries. But, what has happened has already happened, and all we can hope for is an end to this war as quickly as possible, and this will not happen by enforcing no fly zones or flying fighter aircraft from a Nato country into Ukraine! That and other calls for assassinating Putin and expelling all Russian citizens from the UK, are recipes for disaster offered up by idiots in international relations. The end to this war and to soaring oil and gas prices will be in arriving as a negotiated settlement between Russia and Ukraine that includes Ukraine's guaranteed neutrality therefore ensuring Nato expansion stops were it is now.

Continuing to ignore Russian security concerns, sanctioning Russia, boycotting Russia and attacking its economy and finances, all the while being unable to wage all out war on Russia, makes Nato and Europe and the United States global shit heads and hypocrites ready to sacrifice even more Ukrainian lives in vain.

So, all that said, let me add that Russia is the country that helped defeat Daesh in Syria, the country that offered my country wheat only recently and extended a hand of friendship after being so rudely offended by our foreign ministry statement condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. I see the Russians as better friends than the Americans ever were. And if Russia and China chose to, they can call check mate and declare the western domination of the global order over, and good luck to them with that.

As for all the anti-dissent PC media brigades in the West silencing anyone who dares to offer a more balanced narrative on the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, thank you for exposing your own hypocrisy for all to see.
