Whose Nukes Should We Fear?

Scenario 1: Suppose a coup topples a moderate Arab regime. The coup leader decides, for the purpose of mobilizing his people's support, to start a new Arab Israeli war. The mood in the Arab world would no doubt support such an adventurer. Would Israel strike first with Nuclear weapons even before Arab armies make a move towards its border? With some of the characters in the present Israeli Government I wouldn't put it past them. Netanyahu et al respect Arab lives as much as the white Apartheid government of South Africa respected its black population.

So the question here is whose nuclear weapons should we really be afraid of, should we be concerned of a 'Shiite bomb', the world did not come to an end at the acquisition of a 'Sunni Bomb' by Pakistan. So why are so many among us propagating this fear of a nuclear Iran. If it were up to me I would like to see a nuclear free Middle East, which includes the US taking away Israel's nuclear toys. But that will never happen and we know it, Israel is after all America's fat, spoilt child. And Americans know how to raise em nice and fat.

UN sanctions against Iran call on UN member states to stop Iran-bound ships on the high seas to search them. If any of those ships are armed or are accompanied by Iranian naval vessels, this resolution could be a recipe for war. The resolution will certainly bring the regime a lot of public sympathy in Iran. In fact rushing it through the UN Security Council seems more in response to Israeli nagging than Western concerns over Iranian nuclear ambitions.

It is unrealistic for mankind to think it can invent an all powerful weapon that has the power to change the strategic situation 180 degrees and still be under the illusion that it can restrict access to such weapons to a handful of 'responsible states'. The acquisition and ultimate use of these weapons by one crackpot dictator or another is almost inevitable.

This is the legacy of the great powers. Only the complete scrapping of all nuclear arms world wide and the knowhow to produce them will ward off the risk of nuclear confrontations. God help us all.

Below are portions of the text of the resolution against Iran:

"Iran Resolution...
